My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Scarlett was a stray at Lewisburg Animal Shelter, and her euthanasia date was fast approaching. We could not let that happen! She's a big, goofy girl with a lot of energy. Scarlett clearly had little or no previous experience in human interaction; therefore, she thought humans were to be played with the same as other dogs. Teaching her appropriate behavior began at Step One, and she's made remarkable progress. Scarlett will need an owner/family that leads an active lifestyle or can provide her with daily physical and mental stimulation. She loves to play fetch with a Chuck-It or just tennis balls, and loves frisbee. She would be VERY good at frisbee tournaments if she was properly taught. Scarlett would not intentionally hurt a child, but she is bigger than she realizes at 55.1 lbs. We would prefer she go to a home with children ages 10 and up. She enjoys other dogs but can be a little pushy, so extremely timid or fearful dogs would not be a good match for her. Cats are an unknown, but she IS an English Shepherd and they naturally have a high prey drive. She would excel at Basic Obedience classes, and I truly believe Scarlett could become a great therapy dog with the right owner. Come visit her, she's beautiful and silly!
