My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Approximate DOB: July 2012

Hi… my name is Richie! Yeah, I know I look like the loser of a catnip brawl, but I am a lover, not a fighter. The stitches are just part of the difficult journey I have had while looking for my forever home. But when my fur grows back, they will be nothing but a faded memory. WHAT? Did you say I am missing a leg? Yeah, I know… but that is ok because I get along just great without it, and it was a sad reminder of how much my first family did not care about me. Luckily for me, my foster mom took me in and got me all fixed up, so now I can focus on the future and finding my forever family!

When I am not cuddling, I enjoy hanging out with the other foster cats, wrestling, racing around, exploring, and playing with my favorite toy, the Fling-A-Ma-Sting!

I am looking for a forever home with someone who will have time to cuddle and play with me every day. In return, I will gladly give you my heart and lots of laughter. Please do not be scared about the 3-legged thing. I get around just like everyone else and I do not need any medicines or treatment. If you think you might have room for two, please consider adopting one of my foster roommates (Marty, Lolly, Buttons, Sam or Bob McPurr) because we get along great with each other!

COMMENTS FROM RICHIE’S FOSTER MOM:
Richie is one of the most amazing, inspiring and endearing cats I have ever met. He is very animated and his antics make me laugh every day. He has such a silly and uplifting spirit that it is easy to forget how difficult his path has been to get this far. It was not until he was trapped that I learned the extent of Richie’s injury. He had been living outside for nearly two weeks, completely on his own, with a very badly broken leg. But it was immediately obvious that Richie had previously been an indoor cat and that he had an amazing will to survive. Sadly, there was nothing that could be done to save his leg but you just cannot squash a spirit like Richie’s. Immediately after surgery he was up and bouncing around, walking just as well on three paws as everyone else on four. In addition to all of that, Richie had a lump on his shoulder that needed to be removed and biopsied. So the week before he lost his leg, they operated to remove the lump, which thankfully turned out to be nothing worrisome at all.

Richie is extremely loving and affectionate and he is always doing something that makes me laugh. He does not require any special care and he is quite good at figuring out how to maneuver so he can go anywhere that the other cats go without any help. He seems to be an eternal kitten, always finding excitement and fun around each corner.

Richie really enjoys human interaction and activity. He gets along very well with other cats and is nervous around dogs at first, but quickly warms up to them as long as they have a calm demeanor.

If you are looking for an extremely affectionate cat who will love and inspire you, then please consider adopting Richie. He will give his new family more love and adoration than you ever thought possible.

This kitty has had his initial vaccinations, de-worming, flea/tick preventative, has tested negative for FeLV/FIV, and has been micro-chipped and altered.
