Zander's Story...
Introducing Zander
Zander (which means; defender of mankind) is a 10-month old, male, Dutch Shepherd mix. Zander found himself in a local animal shelter through no fault of his own. He is a VERY sweet, but unconfident boy. We do not want to speculate on his previous treatment, because many times a dog’s lack of confidence can be due to a lack of exposure and socialization.

In his foster home, Zander lives with other dogs, and does great with all. He truly enjoys the company of his canine foster siblings, and derives a lot of comfort, and guidance from them, so it would be best if he went to a home with another stable, playful dog. Zander loves food, and learns fast, so training should be a breeze for him. Obedience training will, indeed be required, as it would help in boosting his confidence, as well as solidify the bond between him and his forever family. We are working on him becoming more comfortable on car rides, and each little trip, he gets better, and better. Loud noises spook him a little. He will pull his ears down, and hunker away from the noise, and becomes concerned, looking to his human or dog companion for information on what to do. In these instances it is best not to coddle, but instead ignore his behavior, and offer him a treat to move him past these timid moments. He will work for food! Zander is a very gentle boy who needs to be shown the ropes, given stability and lots of love to flourish.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Zander, a Rochester/Buffalo Dutch Shepherd/German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dutch Shepherd/German Shepherd Dog for sale in Rochester/Buffalo, or seeking a Dutch Shepherd/German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Rochester/Buffalo.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Rochester/Buffalo already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Rochester/Buffalo breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dutch Shepherd/German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with Dutch Shepherd/German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Rochester/Buffalo paves the way for another one to be saved.
