Socks was found in a high kill rural shelter by some Rescue volunteers. She won their hearts
with her shy, quiet ways. Only about 12#, she's a sweetheart of a young dog. Gentle and
respectful, she loves to be close, and will become a lap dog, we are sure. She gets along
with the other dogs, is submissive in nature.
Additional information from foster home:
"Socks is a very people-oriented dog. In our family, she bonded very quickly and closely with me. She follows me around the house, and snuggles in my lap whenever I sit down. She also enjoys attention from my husband. Socks hasn't seemed particularly interested in interacting with our other dog, Bella. She hasn't shown any fear or aggression towards Bella, just a lack of interest. Socks does enjoy sharing Bella's chew toys. She likes to chew on Nylabones, and Kongs, especially if they're stuffed with peanut butter or treats. Socks has been curious about our cats, approaching and sniffing them, but not barking or chasing. Our cats have not run from her, so I'm not sure how she would react to a running cat. Socks has been sleeping in a crate at night. She doesn't especially like it, and will whine a bit, but settles down when we tell her "quiet" in a firm voice. She would much prefer to sleep in bed with you if you allow it (which we did the first night). She walks nicely on a leash for me, and is doing pretty well on potty training. She can be a bit of a jumping bean and has a bit of puppy mouthiness, but responds well to verbal correction, and settles down nicely. Overall, she is an adorable love-bug who will be a great companion in a child-free home."
Her adoption fee is $275 to help cover the medical costs of getting ready for adoption.
