Yvette is a six-month-old Labrador Retriever/Shepherd mix was rescued from the Devore Animal Shelter. She currently weighs about 25 lbs and may double in weight. Yvette is a sweet but shy, timid puppy. She is seeing everything as though it is for the first time, and is currently enjoying life with her foster family. In a brand new environment with new people, Yvette may hide in a corner or under the car, however, she follows the other dogs’ lead and soon gets with the program and begins to feel more comfortable.

At first, Yvette did not know how to walk on leash but now she trots along and explores. She has also visited dog park. At first she was tentative about the other dogs, but she warmed up to everyone and was soon having fun. Yvette is an impressionable young puppy who responds well to praise, treats, and structure throughout the day. She is a loving dog who wants to give kisses to people and to follow the other dogs around. However, she is still very much a puppy who is constantly jumping up or hugging your leg, and still getting into things. But she is learning basic obedience, and responds best to positive reinforcement training (she is too "soft" for heavy-handed training). Yvette just wants to understand what you want and then she will happily comply. She has not been around kids or cats. But she likes to play with toys and is leaning to fetch, so she might like a family with older kids (we think she likes quiet better than loud). Yvette is house-broken (however potty reinforcement is needed in any new environment) and crate-trained. She sleeps in a wire crate throughout the night. A wire crate will be required for her adoption. Her size is 36 inches in length.

The best fit for Yvette is a home with a conventional yard (however, Yvette must be primarily an inside dog) and also with another dog in the home who could show her the ropes. We are also seeking a home where the people are home more to help guide and shape her younger years. Whomever adopts Yvette needs to be OK with a puppy who will still need training, structure and guidance.

At this time we are not considering placing Yvette as an only dog. We truly believe that the other dog in the home is what allows Yvette to feel more secure and confident initially. We do see her growing in confidence, and she is a wonderful, sweet puppy. We understand that there are a lot of loving homes out there, but at this time, please only contact Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue if you meet the aforementioned requirements. Thanks!

Yvette is spayed, de-wormed, vaccinated including rabies, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in Yvette, please contact Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com.
