My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our beagle rescue volunteers have an oft-used expression "Cute goes a long ways." What this means is that although beagles can be rather intense sometimes, and perhaps even a bit annoying occasionally, their cuteness more than makes up for it! :-)

Well, little Tilly is the perfect example of this theory! She is a small bundle of joy at approx. 2 yrs old, 13" tall and 20 pounds of cuteness. She is a typical young beagle, regularly looking for love, treats, and furry animals to chase. While on the one hand she has the inborn hunting traits, she can also be the sweetest little lap doggie, willing to sit in your lap and snuggle until you finally need to get up and accomplish something else. She will even lie on her back in your arms like a little baby! If she is reprimanded for shamelessly stealing food or for barking, she turns on the charm with those gorgeous brown eyes and the sorrowful hound look (soooo pitiful), which of course causes you to forgive her instantly.

Tilly likes cuddling, treats, other dogs, older children, treats, leash walks, car rides, and TREATS. She also loves to dash out the front door seeking adventure whenever she can manage to trick the person holding the door. For that reason, she needs to go to a home which is thoroughly versed in the art of thwarting a beagle escape. Her foster parents have had hundreds of beagles through their home and they have declared Tilly as "top 10 percent" when it comes to the beagle dash, so her new family will need to be very diligent in keeping her safe from escaping -- because she won't come back and you WILL have to chase her if you let it happen (and you had better be quick)!

This little doll was turned into a Houston shelter because her former owners "could not afford" to take care of her. Beagle rescue has vaccinated, spayed, microchipped and treated her for various parasites, and has had her teeth cleaned.

Tilly has great house manners. She is house-trained, uses a doggie door, and does not get into things when the humans are away. She currently sleeps in a dog crate at night but would be very happy to sleep in bed with you, if you would allow it. She is ready to greet the public and find a special home that will adore her, and keep her safe and well . In return, she will provide you with unconditional love and a lot of good laughs!
