Here's what the humans have to say about me:
My name is Rufus. I am a senior dog (8-10 years of age) with a no guts no glory attitude. I am too old for puppies and kittens to like me but I am not too old for you and I to meet, greet and share a few sunsets with.
I walk very nicely on a leash....loose leash too. I like to go on long slow walks (If you put me on a treadmill set it to mosey I am not too keen on the running and jumping) but I do enjoy a walk and do take care of my "business" outside.
As an older dog I am lucky to not have any medical issues you need to worry about other than to feed me, water me, love and let me lay at your side in the shade. Please remember to put me on a leash it's the law.
I have been socializing with other dogs at the shelter which they aren't so bad. You can touch my muzzle, my ears and my tail and scratch my belly too. I have been neutered. I am pretty well-rounded when it comes to my manners (I don't crotch sniff). I don't know what mixture of dog I am but I know I am handsome and housebroken.
I can't be around cats but I do love people. Especially ones with tasty treats. (none of those milk bones snacks but those healthy bites with ridges instead) I can sit on command, I know my name and I don't mind the leash either better for us both.
I live at the Mt. Vernon Animal Shelter have now for awhile and while the calendar count downs to another year lost, I ask you please stop by and come sit with me. I like men and woman, kids too (little buggers). If you have room for an older dog I have plenty of love to give you back in return even if you don't come with those fancy snacks.
Remember my name is Rufus. My motto: DON'T SHOP....ADOPT Thank you for viewing my biography. (Did I mention I mind my manners that includes your guests too),
I hope I see you at the Mount Vernon Animal Shelter. Mount Vernon, NY.
