Sweets is an outgoing, affectionate dog who loves all people! She is a volunteer favorite and has a special bond with several volunteers who make extra trips to the shelter to walk and spend time with her. We believe these deep friendships have kept Sweets going during her long shelter stay. She is a very people-oriented dog who is eager to connect!
In her time with us, Sweets has matured from a big, excitable puppy to an adolescent who knows how to mind her manners but still likes to test the limits now and then. The fact is, this girl loves to have fun! Sweets has learned that playing with other dogs is a blast and has regular play dates with various male shelter dogs. She even plays well with a couple of big boys who are too much for some of our other female players. That Sweets has grown up so well in a shelter is truly remarkable. In a loving home, the sky is the limit for this girl!
Sweets is a medium-energy dog who will require daily exercise and mental activity to be happy and healthy, but would also love to lounge on the sofa with her person. She is a big fan of lap time, cuddles and belly rubs! Sweets attends BAD RAP training classes with a volunteer handler, and continued training with BAD RAP is included for free with her adoption. She is treat-motivated and very responsive to training, knows "sit", "down", "stay", "high five", and "sit pretty", and loves to show off her skills. Sweets is a fun dog who is eager to please and learn!
Sweets gets a bit bouncy in her kennel (who wouldn't?), however, she has great focus and manners outside, and we believe with the proper management all dogs need she will settle nicely into a home. Come meet Sweets and see for yourself what a special dog she truly is!
