My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Wiley and I am a 2 year old Australian Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix boy weighing between 45-50 lbs. I was picked up by a shelter where I quickly became a favorite due to my very, very sweet temperament. My time was up twice and I was given a reprieve each time since I had become a special dog with the shelter workers. When that last deadline came around the shelter pled with someone to take me since I was such a sweet and good dog. My foster mom saw my picture and my beautiful hazel eyes and she agreed to take me as a foster. Once I was taken to the vet, the bad new became apparent that I had been injured when hit by a car. According to the vet this had happened approximately six months earlier and no one sought medical care for me. I suffered a dislocated elbow and lost some teeth as a result. The rescue group had surgery done on my elbow, but due to the delay, it was only partially successful. The vet also determined that I have hip dysplasia. I know all of this sounds very bad, but since being taken in by the rescue, my condition has improved so much. I am now taking supplements which have greatly changed my life. I no longer limp and can run really fast and can even jump up on my hind legs when I get excited. My life is no different than any other dog and I really love to play with the other dogs where I live. My foster mom says I am one of the sweetest fosters she has ever had. I get along great with dogs and cats and also children. I am crate trained and housetrained and walk well on a leash. To top it off, I am extremely friendly and affectionate. In order to maintain my good health, I will need to take supplements to keep my joints in good shape, but this is really a small sacrifice for all of the love I have to give in return.
