My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, young folks! I’m Octavia … not the younger, but the older. I arrived here about a month ago, but was under wraps until they decided my best future. Now they have …

I arrived here with my younger sister, Cricket. We were both abandoned at the kill shelter by our parents and pulled by another rescue. We were just supposed to have a “layover” here. Cricket was a pure brown-and-white JRT, healthy and happy, and went up north to a new home. I was older, not so healthy but just as happy, and so … I was destined for another rescue instead of a home.

Mama Donna didn’t think I was up for the journey and thought I would end up on cold concrete instead of a cushy bed. I get around just fine and always have a smile on my face, but my hearing and my sight are starting to weaken as I move into my 8th or 9th year. I also have a water cyst developing on my chest. She couldn’t imagine putting me on a van and letting me go, so she decided I would stay here and they would help me find my forever home.

I am so submissively sweet; I just go with the flow. I love hanging out indoors or being in the sunshine. I love other dogs. I would prefer older dogs like myself, but I put up with young Cricket, so I’m OK with that, too. Actually, I’m pretty OK with everything. If you want an older lady to hug and kiss on who is house-trained and won’t give you puppy grief, I’m your girl.

Right now, however, I am dealing with a couple of health issues that much be addressed before I’m available for adoption. I have a respiratory infection and need to have some teeth removed (once my bloodwork is cleared). I also have a lump on my chest that needs to be removed and tested. We are hoping it is benign.
