Peaches (Deliah) is a 5 1/2 year old Pug/Heeler Mix, as best as I can guess. She came to the group when her current owner became too old and sick to care for her anymore. When she first arrived in our home, she was a little hesitant to come out of her shell. But with 3 other dogs and 2 kids in the house, there was no time to be shy. Within days, she was chasing squirrels with my dauschund mix and wrestling in the living room floor with my Aussie. My 5 year old daughter and Peaches have grown quite close over the past few few months. My daughter tells Peaches she is the most beautiful dog she has ever seen (beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder.) My favorite thing I've come to know about Peaches is what a farm dog she turned out to be. We go to our family farm on weekends to take care of the cows and Peaches has fit right into that lifestyle. She jumps in the Polaris to go feed cows and has no fear or curiosity when she gets there. She is laid back, calm, and collected. She's even gone nose to nose with a cow and just sniffed and got back in her ride. Now, of course she still sleeps inside, uncreated, usually in her bed or someone else's. She has never had an accident in the house and always minds her manners with friends and neighbor's come over to visit. She is quite possibly the easiest foster we have had, which is maybe why I'm so hesitant to divulge her wonderful personality and loving spirit.

About West Side Animal League

About Our Rescue Group...

West Side Animal League is a volunteer organization that rescues animals from various Fort Worth area shelters. We strive to accomplish our goal of responsible pet ownership by raising public awareness of the need to spay and neuter pets and holding adoption events, spending quality time socializing the animals and in many cases bringing them into our homes as fosters until they can find their own fur-ever home.

We provide vaccinations and medical care as funds are available. 100% of our expenses are covered by donations and adoption fees. We are only able to accomplish this through the generosity of both time and money from others who also want to make the world a better place for our furry friends. If you would like to find out about opportunities to help, call our League line at 817-565-8222 or go to our meetup site at Thank you for your support as we continue Working to Save Animal Lives!
