Little Bundle Of All Things Good!

“It’s not unusual to be loved by anyone.” Remember that song? Remember how it was played on the Fresh Prince of Bel Air and Carlton danced to it? Well that’s how I got my nickname. I’m Karl and my foster family calls me Karl-ton. They add the ton part because I am tons of fun, tons of cuteness and tons of sweetness. I’ve always been this way, but my former owner just didn’t have time for me. His job was making him work lots of hours and I was not getting enough attention. He took really good care of me though. I came into rescue with all of my vaccines, I was microchipped, and I had some training. I am a 1.5 year old male looking for my forever home. When I find my forever home, my new parents are getting an easy dog to take care of. My grooming and maintenance are very simple. I need my wrinkles cleaned every other day and my ears need cleaned twice a week. I have no medical issues. Yep, that’s right! I am awesome! If you are looking for a low maintenance fun loving puppy, I am you guy!

I am such a bundle of joy. I love playing all the time. I play with toys, my foster brother and outside in the snow. I actually love to eat snow. Right now it’s like the world is one big snack when I go out to potty. Don’t worry though! I always avoid the yellow snow. It just isn’t that yummy! Speaking of treats, I will do just about anything for one. I can even do cool stuff without that enticement. I can sit, stay and come. I am starting to ring the bells by the back door when I have to potty. My foster mom acts like she’s won the lottery every time I do it. It makes her so proud how trainable I am. My foster dad taught me at meal time to sit and stay and wait patiently until I’m told to go eat. I amaze these folks with my smartness every day. I cannot wait to find my forever home and amaze them!

One of the most charming parts of my personality is that I am such a puppy still. I just play, play, play all day. My favorite toys are squeaky ones. I can sit and squeak them for hours at a time. It may sound a little annoying, but once you fall in love with me it is the cutest thing you will ever hear. At first I like to take the toy in my mouth and thrash it around like I’m really fierce. Then I run with it a little and then I get to squeaking. I have my technique down and everything so I can be the best player all the time. When I find my forever home, I cannot wait to play tug with my new parents. Be prepared though, I am in the tug game to win it!

Sometimes life is not all fun and games. My foster parents have to remind me of this sometimes. For example, the treats that I love getting, I have a tendency to be a chomper. This is not always so nice for a person’s fingers. I am working on taking nicely. I am also working on not being a pesky little brother. I like to take any toy my foster brother has. Also, when he is laying down and resting, I don’t like to give him his personal space. He tolerates it, but some dogs may not be so nice about it. I just want to be near him all the time. I also love to play with him. Sometimes I can play a little too rough and need to be reminded to cool it. My foster parents attribute my rough play to me being so young and full of energy. Plus, I am a bulldog. Sometimes we just play rough.

Now that we are talking about things I could work on, I have a confession to make. I love nibbling on toes and feet. I know! Gross! But I just love chomping and sometimes they are the closest thing by to chomp on. I stop when I am reminded that it doesn’t feel good to the person I am chomping one. Another confession I need to make. Sometimes I get so excited when company comes over that I hump the guests’ legs. I know! Not nice! I am working on it. I just love people so much, I want to show them. Ok, and I think I am in charge and want to show dominance. When we have visitors at my foster home, we practice being nice and I am getting better. I will need my forever home to continue working with me on some of my bad habits. I am still a pup and I am smart, so it should be easy work for my forever home.

Another song from Fresh Prince of Bel Air that reminds my foster parents of me is a line from the theme song. “I got in one little fight and my mom got scared and said, “You’re moving with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air.” I used to live in the city. Well one day, I was in the elevator with my former owner and I got a little snippy with a neighbor that was in the elevator with us. What my former owner didn’t understand was that the city was too much for me. All those tiny spaces and funny noises had me going bonkers. There was too much going on all the time. I need a home that is nice and simple and has lots of space. I need to live in the suburbs where there is less traffic and people all around. I really need a fenced in back yard so I can get out and run. I am good with other dogs, but it takes me a little while to warm up to them. I have never been around cats or little kids. My foster mom thinks that if there is a child in my forever home, the child should definitely have had a puppy before. This is so they understand that sometimes I can be a chomper and a little overly excited with my play.

Well, it has been so nice letting you know a little something about me. It’s snowing outside so I think I will go out back, run around a little and have a little snack. Maybe I will even ring the bells and watch my foster mom do a happy dance.

Love, Karl
