My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello everyone, my name is Drago. I am a year old, weigh in at 12-13 pounds, and am an Italian Greyhound / Chihuahua mix; and if I do say so myself, I am a little bit of the best of both worlds – I have the most aristocratic Iggy prance and the curliest tail that surely is the envy of all Chihuahuas! And I have a strong name to live up to, which I got because I had a pretty ruff time until I was rescued during a big ice storm in December 2013. But I’m a fighter and now here I am gaining weight, with tons of energy, and I love to run figure eights in my foster family’s back yard. And now that I have lots of love and good nutritious food, my black coat with cookies-and-cream chest is sleek, shiny, and oh so soft.

My foster family has a small Italian Greyhound / Chihuahua mix named Brownie, and even though I’m younger than him I’m lots taller. But big things can come in small packages and sometimes my new brother has to teach me what I can and can’t do and show me the right way, but I’m really smart and I already fit right in. My new brother even shares his favorite toy with me. My foster mom says I’m actually teaching Brownie a good thing or two, so it’s a win-win for everyone! We also have two cats who I say hi to every now and then, but mostly I play with my new brother since the cats are boring and don’t like to run figure eights.

I guess I’m what you’d call the class clown, because I love to roll around on my back, kick my feet in the air, and wiggle all around. And sometimes I get so silly I actually roll off the couch! I also love to roll all over my humans and snuggle up under their chins, and I love lots of kisses. I like sleeping on my humans’ laps when they’re on the couch, and I’m okay with being in my bed in my crate while they’re at work or out and about. I also don’t mind sleeping in my crate at night, but of course I’d much rather be cuddling up next to my humans! My social skills and potty training are really good now, thanks to all my IGCA human and four-legged friends.

So come see me and let’s play for a while. P.S., I’ll even let you scratch my back (for say, oh, an hour! J ).
