My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Breed: Wirehaired Terrier/Schnauzer
Age: 1.5 years old
Weight: 31 pounds
Good with dogs: Depends on dog
Good with cats: Curious
Good with kids: Not Tested - best guess yes
Energy Level: Medium - Low

Meet Avery! He is a cute little guy. He likes humans more than anything else. He gets along with some dogs and seems to prefer females. He is curious about cats and hasn't been officially tested with kids. His caretakers said their best guess is that he would like kids. Avery likes to get your attention by looking up at you and giving you puppy dog eyes. He will also stare out of the kennel to try and get a humans attention for some pets. You can pull on his ears and tail without him caring. He will make a senior or family a great companion.

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:

Thorough veterinary examination

All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming

Spay/Neuter

All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.

If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)

NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
