Meet Bear. He is sweet, sweet, sweet! This poor guy lived with a family and they decided they didn't want him anymore - so they brought him to a kill shelter. Well we think he is great so he is now a DDR dog. Bear now needs a new home who will love him for the rest of his life. He loves to follow humans around and will rub on your leg for attention. He gives puppy dog eyes and nuzzles you for head scratches. He is a great to cuddle and makes cute little noises when he is rubbed, scratched or petted. He will sometimes engage other dogs to play and he likes a nice squeaky toy. Bear knows some basic commands like sit and lay down and will do them when asked. You can pull on his tail or ears and he doesn't mind which is an indication he would do well with children. He is a shelter favorite for his winning personality. He needs some TLC and some good food to get him up to a good weight and for his fur to be healthier. Can you be his hero? He would also make a great companion for seniors. Please consider Bear - he deserves a forever home.

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:
Thorough veterinary examination
All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming
Spay/Neuter
All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.
If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)
NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
