My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PLEASE NOTE: Our website is having tech issues. Applications are NOT being forwarded to us. Please email Sherylsden@optonline.net for an application. DO NOT use the online submittable one until further notice. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Payton arrived on January 18th weighing in at 38 pounds. She is 6 months old. She is shy but has been warming up to our dogs, she has good manners when greeting other dogs, comes to you for a pat on her head, rests her head on your thigh. She has a very soft mouth when taking treats. She had no resource guarding with either food or toys.

UPDATE: She started playing with our youngest one this morning. We find that leash management works very well. She very much likes to be around people and other dogs. Just found out she knows sit and we are teaching her down. She walks very nicely on leash. No pulling. She has no problems going up and down stairs. She is a sweetheart. She is great in the car and lies down right next to you and then goes to sleep. She is spayed, rabies shot, shots, dewormed, etc.

UPDATE: How many ways is there to say Payton is FANTASTIC! PERFECT! AMAZING!! She has become really relaxed and a very happy girl! She is happy to be cuddled on your lap...sleeping in front of the TV..... she is happy to go outside in the snow....she is happy to go into her kennel on her own....she is happy to lay around loose in the house with our dogs. She ventures downstairs....but comes when you call her!! Payton! Here! and there is she is right at your feet....she does not get into ANYTHING. She is not much into playing with toys...but will chew on a bone (hollow bone with a soft treat stuffed in it)....and happy to watch the other dogs play ball....she plays with the other dogs and quickly submits.....rolls over and then plays again. She sleeps all night in her kennel....has had no accidents....I can't find any other words than PERFECT! Whoever adopts her will have one of the best (we have fostered over 25 pups) pups we have ever had the opportunity to love and care for.

UPDATE: She is not afraid of loud noises...pots/pans clanging into the stove drawer (she comes to see what is happening) She crawled under the counter-height stool that was supposed to be 'blocking her' out of the kitchen while I was cooking...thus knocking it over - no reaction. She seems mature well passed her 'age' of 6 months....but very much like a puppy when she plays. Initial 'counter surfing' has been curtailed to 'lying down' while I cook....so smart! She knows sit/down/here/step up....working on 'give paw'. This animal is currently fostered in a private home. Our rescue is 100% foster home based. We do not have a shelter or kennel. They are cared for by a loving family until adopted. Each pup has had their first vet exam, a shot, and de-worming, etc We make sure they have no fleas prior to going into our foster homes. They are fostered out of the shelter at least two weeks or more prior to adopting to monitor health. We take their care seriously! Please note that the adoption appointments will be scheduled after your application is approved. Once adopted, feel free to change the dog's name. You do not have to keep the name listed in this post.

#####PLEASE BE SURE YOUR APPLICATION IS COMPLETE OR IT WILL NOT BE PROCESSED. PLEASE BE SURE TO LIST THE NAME AND NUMBER OF THE VET'S OFFICE THAT CARED FOR YOUR PRIOR OR CURRENT PET. #####
