My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE 2/28/14: After his rescue, Linus developed Cherry eye, a minor condition of one eye where the tear duct slips out of place. He is scheduled for routine surgery on 3/13/2014 to repair it and will be available for adoption about a week after that. We expect no complications and it certainly has not slowed him down! It is just mildly uncomfortable until repaired.

Little Peanuts Puppies were rescued from an abandoned lot. An 8 year old child had heard about this family and helped get them to rescue by putting her birthday money toward their vaccinations! She also let us know that she adopted one of the siblings (Annabelle, not pictured), and wanted to find homes for the rest. Their mother had apparently already been taken along with 2 other of the pups. We were told that the mother dog was believed to be a Schnauzer mix and the father was believed to be a miniature pinscher. We have no way to confirm this, however. What we do know is 3 babies needed our help and are now in a warm, safe foster home awaiting adoption!

Linus is the only male in the 3 we rescued. Linus is described by his foster mom as outgoing and friendly and craves human interaction. Linus LOVES to be petted and is quite the snuggler after he is finished playing. He is extremely playful and has great energy.

Linus and his sisters (Lucy and Patty) are going to be small dogs. They are currently approximately 6 months old, and are underweight but beginning to gain. Linus is about 10 pounds and is the biggest. Once he has finished growing and has put on proper weight we do not expect him to get much bigger than about 20 lbs.

Linus and his siblings were born and raised by their mother outdoors. Whoever owned the mother abandoned her. Strangers came to their aid and provided a dog igloo, and food, to keep the family safe until rescue could be found. Linus, Patty, and Lucy are all in a warm, safe, foster home where they are learning about being indoor dogs, learning to use the bathroom outdoors only, and learning good house manners. Potential adopters must be willing to work patiently with these babies to help bring out the best in them. They are not feral at all, and are extremely loving and cuddly! They also get along well with the foster mom's other dogs and so far have ignored her cat who is bigger than them :)

Linus and his sisters are very bonded, but can be adopted separately as long as they are not segregated from their human family for sleeping or long periods of time.

Linus and his sisters will be completely vetted prior to adoption, including neuter, microchip, all vaccines, and dewormed. They have been started on flea/tick prevention as well and will receive a health certificate from the vet. Adopters will need to provide them with their booster vaccines and must keep them on heartworm prevention for the rest of their lives.

Interested adopters please request an adoption application by emailing MJsAnimalSanctuary@gmail.com. Adopters are subject to reference checks, vet reference, meet and greet, and home visit. Adoption fee applies.
