My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Breed: Coonhound/Labrador Retriever
Age: 2 years
Weight: 40-50 pouns
Good with dogs: Yes - Laid back older dogs
Good with cats: Yes - No interest
Good with kids: Yes - Older children
Energy Level: High

A note from Freckles foster:

Freckles is not interested in cats. I think she would do best with older children. She tends to be a little high strung, especially when she is outside. She is all Hound when it comes to catching a scent! She is quiet inside and appreciates the solitude of her crate. She responds well to calm steady handling. I think she would do best in a home where she was the only dog, or paired with an older, laid back dog.

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:

Thorough veterinary examination

All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming

Spay/Neuter

All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.

If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)

NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
