My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE:Buddy has found his new forever home with a friend of friends family!

Chow Rescue Ontario is assisting Buddy's owner in finding him a new home to live out his golden years. Buddy has been treated extremely well in his current home, he is well loved but due to twins in the home they have decided to rehome him.

Here is some information the owner has provided us.

Buddy is a 9 year old male, about 60 lbs. He is neutered, and just received his latest shots this month Jan 15th.

Buddy spends most days sleeping at home, watching the front door/window, going for walks whenever I can take him out.

I've had Buddy for 8 years now. I adopted him from a friend of a friend who couldn't move with him. In the time Buddy has been with me I've spent lots of time training with him, took group classes and also private trainer. Even with all the time spent training, I haven't been able to confidently let Buddy interact with random dogs. He can be friendly to some, and then snap at others. From my observation on our walks he tends to dislike higher energy dogs. Due to this unpredictability, I cannot let him go leash-free either.

Buddy loves his family. He likes to stay at your feet, loves to be petted and be the center of attention. Buddy likes to be around people the most. I recommend that he be the only dog in the home, unless perhaps the other dog is low energy submissive type. He tends to chase cats, so no cats. Buddy has lived mostly around adults. He can tolerate older kids, so long as they respect his space. I would not recommend young children in the new home.

He likes to sit guard at the front door and bark any disturbances he hears outside. He also barks when the doorbell rings or at strangers coming in to the home.

After much consideration we decided to rehome Buddy for a few reasons, the main one being that we just welcomed twin newborns into our family and I am the sole caretaker for them, leaving me really only enough time to take Buddy on very short walks so that he can potty outside (we do not have a fenced in backyard). Another main reason is I have no idea how Buddy will react around mobile babies/toddlers. He has snapped once at my one year old nephew..wasn't entirely his fault because my nephew tripped and fell very close to him. But with his unpredictability factor, and having twin babies, it is an unknown risk I simply cannot take a chance on. I manage now with dog gates, but my home is small and all the gates is making the space cramped.

If you can give Buddy the home he needs contact Chow Rescue Ontario and we will put you in touch with his family.
