Meet Gabriel! He came to ESRA when his former owner could no longer care for him. Gabriel craves attention, and he follows his foster mom around like a shadow.

Although Gabriel will be seven in February, has the energy of a young dog. He's just learning how to play with the other dogs in his foster home, as he has never lived with dogs before. Because Gabriel is a little too interested in the resident cats and doesn't play well with them, he would be best in a home without cats.

Gabriel is in good health. He takes a couple of pills a few days a month for allergies. The pills are inexpensive, and they keep him comfortable and healthy.

This boy is strong on a leash, so he and his foster family are working on leash manners. He is also learning to sit and wait while his food is prepared as well as not to take food from his humans. Counter surfing is also tempting for Gabriel, but his foster mom says that he is a fast learner who is picking up on the rules quickly.

At night and while his foster family is gone, Gabriel is kenneled and does well. He has the routine memorized, and when he sees the other dogs run into their kennels and get treats, he runs into his and waits for his treat. He is learning to take a treat nicely out of a hand, but he needs to be reminded to be nice when he gets excited and grabs.

Because he previously lived in a home without a fenced yard, Gabriel was trained to wait at the door for his human to leash him up and to go out with him. He still practices that behavior and will wait for his people to go outside with him.

Gabriel's foster mom says that he is a wonderfully loving dog with energy and silliness. He will make someone a great Velcro pet! If you'd like to know more about Gabriel, please contact his case managers at the e-mail address below.

Please note that an approved adoption application is the first step in a more thorough interview process that is designed to match each dog to exactly the right family, and that the final decision rests with the dog's case manager.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Gabriel.
