Facts about Heather

  • Breed: Domestic Mediumhair
  • Color: Brown Tabby
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Female
  • ID#: 94511
  • Hair: Medium
Heather is a Domestic Medium Hair (DMH), tabby and white, female, 4 years of age.

A cat who is social and loving by nature, Heather can be initially shy with unfamiliar people and situations, but her friendly personality and inquisitiveness makes it impossible for her to play coy for long. Definitely liking attention, she will readily approach people to give and receive affection when she feels comfortable. With a few spoken words of encouragement, Heather warms-up and shows her appreciation with purring and gently head-nudging. She thoroughly enjoys having her coat brushed, and she loses all inhibition when the petting begins; when delighted she can become quite talkative.

An extremely sweet, sometimes playful, mostly easy-going, and always engaging, curious, and easy-to-please cat – she is also a committed snuggler who is highly affectionate with and devoted to people and cats she is familiar with. Heather is comfortable and at-ease with housemate canines in general, but she can be selectively-tolerant when directly interacting with highly active or unruly dogs or dogs she isn’t familiar with. Not a feline to stand idly by and watch activities from afar, she likes to be close-by wherever she thinks the action is.

Heather is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a low to moderately-active lifestyle and without active young children. She will do well in just about any home environment, with or without other well-mannered pets, canine or feline, so long as she is embraced as a much-loved, lifelong feline family member who is included in daily activities and who, if other pets are in the home, is allowed to establish reasonable boundaries with them.

Heather currently resides in a Monroe SPCA Foster Home with dogs and other cats. You can meet her by pre-arrangement with approved Adoption Application. All Monroe SPCA cats available for adoption have an adoption fee of $75.00. This fee includes the cat being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, and micro-chipped prior to adoption.

About Monroe SPCA

About Our Rescue Group...

Monroe SPCA (Monroe Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is a 501c.3 tax-exempt, non-profit animal welfare and rescue organization incorporated in the State of Michigan in 2010. Monroe SPCA is governed by all-volunteer Board of Directors.

Monroe SPCA’s mission is to save, protect, and improve the lives of animals. One of the ways we accomplish our mission is by being the leading non-profit organization facilitating adoptions and providing medical care and treatment to homeless animals at Monroe County Animal Control. We are also the leading rescuer and rehabilitator of animals at this shelter, finding and securing placement for some of the neediest and most vulnerable animals with partner rescue organizations (all of them no-kill) as well as through our own network of foster homes.

Additionally, Monroe SPCA, now, also provides every dog at Monroe County Animal Control with basic preventative health care which includes flea preventative, deworming(s), DHPP vaccine and booster, and Heartworm Testing. If a dog tests positive for Heartworm, Monroe SPCA also provides that dog with Heartworm Treatment.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process starts with filling out an Adoption Application on the animal you're interested in adopting. Once we've received and reviewed your completed application we’ll contact you, usually within 2-3 days (remember, we're all volunteers). Our adoptions are best-fit placements, meaning we strive to ensure a good match for both, the animal being adopted and the adopter.

Our adoption fee for dogs and puppies is $120.00 to $200.00.
Our adoption fee for cats and kittens is $75.00.

Adoption fee includes the animal being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, and micro-chipped prior to adoption as well as all dogs being Heartworm negative or receiving treatment for Heartworm.
