My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

JAKE is a sweet 1 year old black male with natural ears that came to rescue rather underweight. His owners had taken him to their vet and the vet assured them that he looked ok and that he was a growing puppy who needs to be kept on the lean side. Jake was living with an older male black lab in the home and they started to get into fights. Jake did walk away with some puncture wounds, but finally had enough and stood his ground. We think it was all about food as the black Lab was eating Low Carb food, so was Jake. The poor boy was constantly hungry and it is no surprise the Lab attacked him over the kibble. The family had him vetted before they turned him over to rescue and the poor boy weight in at 95 lbs. Our main goal was to get some weight on this boy before he could go in to be neutered. After 1 month of 8-10 small meals a day, he looks gorgeous and is now ready to be neutered. Jake is everybody's favorite. He has lived with children of all ages and we think he will be ok with another female that has his energy level and will play with him. We do not know how he is with cats - but will test him soon. Jake came to MAGDRL in December 2007.

Update 1/15/08 - Jake has been neutered and is ready for his forever home. He is all puppy, high energy and needs an outlet. He is great with other dogs, kids and cats. Obedience class is a must for the adopter. He is sweet and a loving dane pupper that will shine in the right home.
