Topaz's Story...
Topaz had a rough start in life. She and her sibling were thrown away when they were just seven weeks old. A truck slowed down and they were tossed out the door, toddled over to the side of the street and huddled down under a car by the curb. A friend of the SPCA rescued them and brought them to our sanctuary. They were in pretty bad shape when they arrived but responded to medical treatment, nourishment and love. Topaz is an absolute joy, getting along with all the other animals at the sanctuary and just loves to play and be cuddled. However, it has been our experience that rescues raised in the sanctuary from an early age are often skittish of new surroundings. So although Topaz got along fine with other dogs as well as cats at the sanctuary, her new family should take this into consideration when introducing her to other four-legged members. She may take a bit of time to adjust while being socialized into her new surroundings. Topaz is a Boxer/Whippet mix currently being fostered on Qualicum Beach. She is currently seven months old and weighs 22 pounds.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Topaz, a Victoria Whippet/Boxer puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Whippet/Boxer for sale in Victoria, or seeking a Whippet/Boxer puppy from a breeder in Victoria.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Victoria already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Victoria breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Whippet/Boxer breeders who help with Whippet/Boxer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Victoria paves the way for another one to be saved.
