Maggie is a very sweet adult Shih Tzu around 6 years of age who came to Kiko for a better life. Before losing his apartment, Maggie’s former caregiver could not even afford dog food; we were told her favourite foods were hot dogs and spaghetti. While she was always treated well and has a lovely disposition, Maggie arrived with infections in both ears as well as an oozing and painful cyst revealed upon grooming that had been hidden by a matted coat. Additionally, Maggie was living with a small intact male dog and had puppies on a regular basis, presumably for income, and as recently as two months before she was placed in our care. After two visits to the vet, her infections have cleared up nicely, she has been vaccinated, and she will be spayed shortly. Maggie’s foster reported that she was extremely well behaved at the vet, as she was for her grooming, and that it is a real pleasure to have Maggie in her home. Maggie is clean in the house, excellent in the car, and enjoys going for walks. She would do best in a quiet home with adults only or one with older children.
