My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi my name is Guinness I am a Chihuahua and Miniature Pinscher mix, am about 1 year old and weigh about 8 lbs. My daily schedule consists of playing, then a long nap, with some more playing, and an even longer nap. My favorite place to be is on the back of the couch on top of a blanket. I was so nervous when I came to my foster home but now I run around the house like I have been here for years! I am always following my foster mom around hoping that she will chase me and I get so excited when she does! There is a video of my playing that you should watch. I constantly play bow and prance around, my legs are really long for my body so I look hilarious!

I love treats and food. I will try anything and so far I am a big fan of blueberries, apples and bananas, who knew? I know how to sit for a treat and have a lot of potential to learn more tricks. I love to see what my foster mom is cooking so I stand behind her in the kitchen on my hind legs so that I can see the counter tops. I can also jump really high if I get really curious! Maybe you could enroll me in agility classes? I would put those big dogs to shame with my skills! I also love chasing balls, especially my foster mom's dryer balls. I love to bat around ping pong balls and bottle caps as well, I'm very catlike!

I sleep in a crate at night. I am house trained and crate trained. I am quiet in my crate when the people have to leave the house and always go potty right when I go outside. I like to go for walks but I am extremely fearful of having a collar, harness, or leash put on me. Once it is on I am fine but this is something that I will need to work on in my new one. When we get outside I will proudly walk all around the neighborhood and could even be a good short distance running partner! I am great with other dogs who don't bother me too much and just love to play with cats. I take a little bit of time to warm up to new people (especially men), my foster mom asks people to ignore me for a while when they come over so that I don't get overwhelmed. That usually ends with me begging for attention. Unfortunately if someone is too forward with me when they first meet me I will bark at them and not be very nice. My foster mom has been crating me when new people come over and then letting me out when they get settled because of this. I will need some work on learning that strangers aren't scary! I think I would like to have a female adopter to be my master. Right now I live with my foster mom and her boyfriend. I just LOVE both of them so much! It took me a few days to get used to being around her boyfriend though, and I get very very nervous when new men come over the house. Once I have gotten used to them I try to get them to chase me! I have been through a lot of changes in the pats few months and am looking for some stability and consistency. My first few days in my new home will be very scary for me and I will need someone patient who understands that I will take time to come out of my shell. Once I do I will be loyal to you forever! Would you like to meet me?

Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
