If Rudy was looking for his new relationship on a dating website, his profile would sound something like this:

Available, experienced, attractive boy looking for a lifelong, committed relationship. I don't have a lot of requirements. What you look like doesn't matter to me. What does matter is that you have room in your heart to love me. I have plenty of love to give you! If looks do matter to you, I am a very handsome boy with a very attractive physique. My foster mom said that I have great energy, and she loves watching me run. When we go for walks, she enjoys the pep in my step and the way my body breaks into an easy trot.

My past home had an underground fence, and my foster home has a physical fence. Since my hearing is not quite as sharp as it used to be, I do need a fenced yard for my enjoyment and safety. I was still hunting this past fall, but I think I've now hung up my hunting hat. The only thing I'll be hunting for in the future is the soft touch of your hand. Also, Nylabones, please. Lots of Nylabones! Oh, and car rides. Those are such fun because I'm with people. Speaking of people, I'd rather be around big people, probably over the age of thirteen. I also prefer to be the only dog in my new family. My foster parents keep talking about "empty nesters." If that describes you, we might be a perfect match.

Why do these profiles often mention moonlit walks on the beach? I'll settle for a daily walk in my neighborhood and some good playtime in my new yard. I will also need quality time indoors with you. I promise to look adoringly into your eyes. I've loved before, and I can't wait to have that again. If you enjoy celebrating Christmas, guess what? I was born on Christmas Day, and we can celebrate that with a new Nylabone.

If you think we might be a good match, please contact my foster mom at the e-mail address below. She will tell you what a catch I am!

Eager to meet you,
Rudy
