My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

RUSTY is a small Lab/Golden Retriever mix. He is 4 to 5 years old and weighs about 45 pounds. VERY sweet dog! Has a typical Golden Retriever temperament, but in a smaller size with less hair! Gets along with most other dogs, a little possessive (not aggressive) over his food, but only with other dogs, not with humans. He is crate trained and house trained, walks very well on a leash, loves people! He is not a barker, loves to snuggle and he does happy "grunts" like a puppy when I get home from work and greet him! He is just an awesome dog. Unfortunately his former life wasn't perfect. He was heartworm positive and had his treatments in November and December so he is all better now. He also had a broken pelvis last June and other injuries and is healing very well from that incident. He walks up and down stairs just fine and can take short walks, but until he is completely healed he cannot take long walks or run and play just yet. He can play in the house and he romps around the living room and wrestles with the smaller foster dogs. He loves to sneak up onto the sofa with me to get some quality snuggle time and watch TV. Rusty would make a great dog for an adult couple that want a sweet, loving dog who is very attentive to his people and just wants to be near them and to be loved on.
