Promise is a pure-bred Maltese female; she's 5 years old, weighs just under 5 lbs & is very gentle. This tiny beauty is spayed, dewormed, microchipped, vaccinated, had a vet exam & just had a dental done by our vet. She's potty trained to washable piddle pads. She's great with other small dogs and has an excellent temperament. She's lived her entire life in a home where she was allowed free run in the fenced backyard only when 1 of her humans were with her; she's not used to a harness and leash.
Maltese have been an aristocrat of the canine world for more than twenty centuries. The breed is famous for its long, cascading snowy white coat, its dark oval eyes with jet-black rims and its gentle yet spirited disposition. For all their diminutive size, the Maltese seems to be without fear. They are among the gentlest mannered of all little dogs, yet are lively and playful as well as vigorous. Maltese have no undercoat, and do not shed if cared for properly (fed a raw meat diet and brushed daily). Like their relatives the Poodle and Bichon Frisé, they are considered hypoallergenic and most people who are allergic to dogs are not allergic to the Maltese. Gentle, loving, trusting and devoted to its master. Highly intelligent. Good at learning tricks. Bold and quick to sound the alarm in case of suspicious noises. It is a classic companion dog: beautiful, graceful and lovable. It does well with other non-canine animals and other dogs. Maltese love to play outdoors. Some like to jump in puddles. They also love to sit in your lap and be held in your arms.
Promise needs an experienced adopter in a quieter permanent home that's either all adults, or with a family who have only older children (12 years and up who have small dog experience and know how to properly treat them). Her adoption donation is $500 and includes her lifetime microchip registration. If you have the right kind of home for Promise, email us for an adoption application at 1yorkiesrescue@gmail.com.
