Our sweet Betty was hit by a car and left in a ditch to die. One of our group members saw her and we enlisted the help of a pit expert. Even though she was severely injured and in pain, we were able to rescue her and get her to a vet. Poor Betty was so hungry she had been eating rocks, and the injury to her leg was so severe she had to have it amputated. However, as with most amputee dogs, this has not slowed her down! She has adjusted very well to having only three legs. She is a very sweet girl who loves attention, but she doesn't care much for other dogs, so we think it's best for her to be an "only pet." Betty needs to be with a family sympathetic to her background and amputation, where she can be loved and pampered. Please note that Betty is being fostered in Tennessee, so you wouldn't be able to meet her prior to adoption. The $400 adoption fee covers the cost of spaying, all vetting and immunizations, and transport to your area.

About The Downtown Dogs Group NE

About Our Rescue Group...

The Downtown Dogs Group is a small rescue group. While we have many highly adoptable dogs and puppies, we do also take dogs typically deemed "unadoptable" by other rescues for reasons such as age, breed or medical problems. We are a NO-KILL rescue and do not euthanize except in cases of severe, painful and non-treatable medical conditions.

Our Adoption Process...

Potential adopters should contact the group for an application, and will undergo a screening process. Adoption fees vary but will include the cost of a transport to your area. Currently, all dogs are being fostered in TN; therefore, it is not possible to meet your pet prior to adoption. We have facilitated many adoptions through northern rescues and shelters. The process works very well, and is utilized by many rescues in the South. We use several dog transports that are very experienced and there are several New England stops from which to choose. Your pet will arrive current on vaccinations and already spayed/neutered. Thank you for your interest in our pets and for giving us a chance to adopt our babies out to wonderful families.
