My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, my name is Andy and I am a 2-year-old, 14-pound terrier mix of playful and adorable. I have gone through a lot in my short life. I was abandoned and forced to fend for myself in the streets. I was picked up by animal control in early December, very scared and matted. I was brought to a shelter where I spent a couple of months. I was so scared I didn’t let anyone come close or touch me, but the humans there were so nice to me that I calmed down and made lots of progress, and they also found a foster home for me.

Let me tell you, living in a home is very nice!! I have a foster mom whom I follow around the house, and two kitty sisters. I had never seen kitty cats up close before so I was very curious about them, but it seems they don’t like it when I’m in their faces so I have learned to give them their space.

I love FOOD of all kinds, playing with humans, other dogs and my toys!! Going to the dog park and playing with other dogs. Going for walks. Running really fast and feeling the air in my face. A human to snuggle and play with. I don’t like the vacuum – I avoid that thing like the plague. Also being touched when I am not expecting it (for example, from behind). You see, fending for myself in the streets is very tough, especially for a little guy like me. I had to be very alert and ready to defend myself from other city dwellers.

All things considered, I think that I am a lucky pup. I am in very good health, have been neutered and am up to date with my vaccines. I now live in a nice foster home, where I am warm, have food and toys, and am learning that I am now safe and can relax. I even got a coat so I can be nice and cozy when I go outside on cold days. Can you believe it?? If someone had told me a few months ago I would have a coat I would have rolled my eyes and barked!

Will you be my forever human and give me a loving home I can call my own? You will be the center of my world. I need a human that will continue to work with me to teach me my commands (I already know “sit” and “no”) and be patient while I adjust to being petted, which is so hard because I am so darn cute!!! For that reason I would not be good (not yet anyways) with young children. I am good with dogs and cats. And by the way, my blond, wavy hair is natural.
