Ted Ligity's Story...
This handsome hunk of Black & Tan is one of our newest rescues; Teddy. He, along with two other new pups (Gracie Gold and Hannah Kearney) were surrendered together to DREAM by a caring family member of their previous owner. They were all being kept in the owner’s because garage because her landlord did not approve the dogs to be living there. The owner eventually indicated to family that she couldn't afford them anymore but didn’t want to see them go into a shelter. We’re so grateful they chose DREAM to help these fur-babies find new forever homes.

Teddy is one of the sweetest Dachshunds you will ever meet. He is a “tweenie,” but not at all too heavy, nor even too big to fit perfectly in your arms or on your lap, which is where he loves to be. Teddy gets along well with other dogs and adults and children alike. He loves to play and really needs a yard where he can run and chase anything that moves. He is working really hard at perfecting his house training and he’s not at all aggressive. He could be happy as an only dog, provided his owner isn’t gone for long hours at a time because he does not like being locked in a crate, so he would need to be gated in a kitchen or suitable area!

Just an fyi… Teddy and Hannah K. are the parents to little Gracie Gold, but they are each looking for their own, individual forever family to love!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ted Ligity, a Houston Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Houston, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
