My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

IDGSR WELCOMES MARTHA INTO THE SAFETY OF THE RESCUE!!!

Martha came to IDGSR by another high intake shelter, she was slated for Euthnasia the next day. When I went to see her, she wouldn't even look at me and tried to avoid me, clinging to the only person there that she felt gave her some form of comfort and love and that was the inmate who fed and spoke to her.

She had no one and was a stray living as a 'neighborhood dog' for quite some time. Underweight and having birthed pups before, it was clear that she was neglected and not cared for and she was facing death at the shelter.

Martha is now fully vetted, healthy and gaining weight and her fur is growing in and will take a few more months for that full thick coat to fill in. She'd had severe fleas, and is now treated for that.

Martha gets along well with other dogs, she is a Shepherd and ?? what mix? Lab? Hound? doesn't matter, this cat friendly girl was ever so sweet to the kitten who was not afraid of her at all but actually rubbed against her legs when we tested her.

Martha is a calm and sweet and mellow girl with a easy disposition and is being fostered by our trainer who is working with her on some basic obedience.

Martha will make a great companion for some family looking for a medium energy dog who is more low key and not high strung. But Martha does still like to have a good time . She is approx. 4-5 yrs. old, gives kisses freely and

will snuggle and watch TV with your or go for a nice long walk or hike.

If you would like to apply to adopt Martha, see our link below and apply. Martha is fostered in Tennessee and can be easily transported north to her forever family.
