My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Latest update: September 2014

Bingo's foster mom tells us, "Bingo has been with us now for 6 months, since he was 4 months old. I can honestly say that in 15 years of working & volunteering in rescue and fostering hundreds of animals, I have never encountered as much joy as I have with him.

Bingo is truly AMAZING! Yes, of course, I may be a little biased, but I truly mean this. I’m sure you are wondering, 'if this is the case, then why wouldn’t we just adopt him ourselves?'. The simple answer is he deserves more than we can offer. We have our own pack of cats and dogs which are predominantly senior and/or special needs.

Having Bingo has certainly been a challenge for us, as it requires a lot of management, ie; we can’t just have him loose with everyone. He is a little too much with our smaller older dogs and he doesn't really understand "doggy language" when they say it's time to back off on the playing. I believe that due to his condition of having some neurological deficits he is not able to react and behave as a typical pack member, he does not comprehend correction when he is wanting to have fun.

FUN should be Bingo’s middle name, he is always happy, always curious and wanting to please, he quite simply loves everyone he meets.Bingo has his own playground, literally, he has more toys than any pet store and we even picked up a kid's slide at a yard sale that he loves.

Bingo also loves to swim, in the ocean or in the river, quite unusual for a Chihuahua! He seems to have no fear.

Bingo’s perfect home would be someone that will appreciate his incredible personality, and also not object that he actually sleeps at least 20 hours a day! This I believe is also due to his condition.

His health in the past 6 months has not declined, in fact he has shown no additional symptoms since the day he first came into rescue. He prances in the front when he walks and he leaps like a kangaroo when he runs. He could not be more adorable!
I have always said that one day I should write a book about all the dogs that have touched our lives in so many special ways. If that happens Bingo will certainly have his own chapter as a little man who has the most enigmatic and sparkling energy that can light up the world"

Bingo would LOVE to be someone's lap dog and he will soak up all the attention from anyone who meets him! He likes being carried around and would be a perfect "only child"

Bingo is 10 months old now (as of early September) and it's been quite a journey - he was very young when he was dumped with a local dog-loving family. They were unable to keep him and contacted one of our volunteers. Bingo is unbelievably sweet and just a darling boy! He loves everyone, and is so attentive to his humans. We realized right away that something "wasn't right" and Bingo, like some chihuahuas, particularly those that are a result of "backyard breeding" has some neurological issues that needed further evaluation. He had some testing and it looks like he has hydrocephalus but has every potential to lead a long and healthy life. His prognosis is wonderful because he has not had any increase in symptoms or decrease in functioning. We can give you more information upon request. Bingo shows no signs of discomfort and he is a joyful little character!

Bingo will make someone a wonderful companion, and you can see how much he loves children. At 10 lbs he is very tiny so will need to be in a home that understands super small cuties.
Bingo is in foster in southern Maine while he waits to find his perfect forever family!

To apply to adopt this dog, please visit our web site to access our application and learn more about adoption through Lucky Pup Rescue, www.luckypuprescue.org, or request an application via email, luckypuprescue@yahoo.com.

Please note, we do not have a physical location, but we are supported by a network of wonderful foster homes that are spread throughout New England. A dog will need to be visited by a prospective adopter in the foster home where they are feeling safe and comfortable.

Thank you for considering rescue!
