Jakey's Story...
JAKEY-JAKEY!! Have you ever wished you could have a hybrid cat-dog? Well, that's Jakey!! Jakey was born in late 2010 and seems to be either Russian Blue or English Shorthair mix. He has a beautiful steel gray coat and bright yellow eyes with a little touch of green in the middle. His age is truly wonderful since he's a little past the crazy kitten stage but still has plenty of energy for fun. For the most part, Jakey is a laid back kind of guy... calm and quiet. But, he occasionally likes to play "tag" with his canine foster sister or just kick around his feather toy to entertain himself.

Jakey gets high marks for snuggling and is very interested in following you from room to room. He definitely prefers company to being alone and would likely thrive in a multi-pet house. He knows his name, comes when called, is confident and adventurous, and is actually rather trainable as he follows basic hand motions and verbal cues! Jakey has fit in wonderfully in his foster home and has become good friends with his feline AND canine foster siblings. Like so many rescued furr-babies, Jakey likely has a story of sadness that he'd like to forget, but he doesn't seem to hold any grudges and he's ready to find his forever home to start a fresh new life!

Jakey is neutered, tested negative for Feline Leukemia and FIV and is current on vaccines.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jakey, a Merrifield Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Merrifield, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Merrifield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Merrifield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Merrifield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Merrifield paves the way for another one to be saved.
