Popsicle's Story...
I’m a handsome, big guy with lots of love to give! I was found in the freezing cold and brought to Delaware Humane. Thankfully there was room for them to take me in and provide me with food and a nice warm place to stay. I did test positive for FIV. Cats with FIV can live long, healthy lives and usually need no special diet or medication. FIV is a cat only disease and can not be given to humans, or dogs. It can be transferred to other cats through deep bite wounds but not casual contact. Popsicle’s ear was tipped when he was found.
If you are interested in adopting Popsicle please ask one of the staff for an Adoption Application. Once filled out they will fax it to Delaware Humane to be processed and DHA will contact you within 24 hours of receipt of the application. If you have any questions or concerns about Popsicle please contact Margie at 302-530-3567.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Popsicle, a Wilmington Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Wilmington, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Wilmington.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Wilmington already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Wilmington breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Wilmington paves the way for another one to be saved.
