Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Aurora! She is a sweet shepherd lab x, weighing 45lbs, just above knee height, and about 2 years old.
Aurora has lived a tough life in her short time. Her first two years were spent fending for herself in a northern community, until a kind teacher stepped up to help her. Aurora slowly began to trust, and eventually was caught and brought to New Hope. Today she has come along way since being timid and fearful.
Aurora is a very meek and gentle love bug. She loves nothing more than to be close, and be caressed by a gentle hand. She loves to be warm by the fire and curl up to you in bed or on the couch.
Aurora has become more comfortable with being on leash, and with more time, will become a pro. Her recall is improving all the time, but she really doesn't go that far anyway, she wants to have you in view at all times (we think it is her being so grateful for her new life). This smart girl is also house trained, in fact there was no training, she just knows to ask for an outside break naturally.
Aurora does well with other dogs, but can be a little protective of her foster mom when other dogs come by. She is still unsure of men, but is also learning to trust them too. I'm not sure how she is with kids, but I do know that they had given her a hard time in her old life. As for cats, meh, they can come or go, she doesn't mind.
Aurora is an escape artist, it has to be her survival skills she's developed, but she can climb Stelco fencing, even 6ft high. She stays in the house during the day, while we're at work, and has not chewed anything or probably moved from the bed where she is when we leave her. She is such a good girl. Some new noises still scare her, but even the scary dish washer has become a fear of the past.
Aurora loves to go on family walks, she runs through the snow like a little bunny, tail excitedly tucked under, and her back legs trying to catch up to her front. Oh, and did I tell you about her yawn? That's her signature "good morning"! She has the cutest, human like yawn, this means it's wake up time. She has been such a joy to have, and watching her blossom and trust has been a gift.
Aurora is wishing for a life time of love, happiness, and companionship. She has a lot of lost time to make up for. If you think you could love her and fulfill her wish, apply to meet her today.
