My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Breed: Labrador Retriever/Hound
Age: 7 months
Weight: 55 pounds
Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Curious
Good with kids: Yes
Energy Level: Medium

Meet Hank! He is a short stocky bundle of fun!! He loves to romp with other dogs and will engage them to play with him by getting on his elbows and butt in the air. He likes a good squeaky toy and he will chase a ball if you throw it for him. He will nuzzle you for a scratch and rub up against you to show you he likes you. Hanks back end wags as much as his tail when he is happy or excited. It's so cute to see him wiggle. He wants attention and will stare outside of his kennel to get some eye contact, then give you his puppy dog eyes. Hank knows his sit and lay down commands and will do them when asked. He would make a good candidate for a family with kids because he doesn't mind when you pull on his ears or tail. He is medium energy so would also make a great companion for a senior. He is curious about cats so maybe a cat that is dog savvy would be advised. Does Hank sound like the dog for you? Fill out an application for adoption.

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:

Thorough veterinary examination

All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming

Spay/Neuter

All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.

If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)

NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
