Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Wally is an old soul in a puppy’s body. He’s a 34-lb., 9-month-old Shepherd mix with birth defects in his paws that affect his gait; he’s missing a few toes and small bones, so he walks and runs with a slight limp. He’s doing well with his limitations—he’s a happy and active guy—but he tires fairly quickly, and we can’t really say for sure how much his special paws will affect his other joints as he grows older (the adoptive family will receive a full medical report and x-rays.) He’s loving and lovable, learning about how to live in a house and be part of a family. He’s great with older kids and respectful of cats. He bonds quickly to humans, and gets along fine with the small dog in his foster home, but he is fearful of most dogs, especially bigger dogs, while out on walks or about town.
Wally will need a family that is willing to spend time with him building his confidence, as he’s had a tough life so far and so can be easily startled. He becomes stressed when like left home alone, so will do best with a family where someone—animal and/or human—can keep him company for most of the day. He will be a loyal and steadfast companion for the lucky person who nabs him!
