Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Lyra...(pronounced LIE-rah)...is one of our When you wish upon a star... Lab to Leash retirees! This tiny (15 lb) 1 year old female is about as adorable as they come. She snuggles into you and would love to be held all day. She is like a little ragdoll! Lyra is cratetrained, as is working on her housetraining. She loves everyone she meets, including the cat! When introduced to new dogs appropriately, she does well with other dogs and likes to play with similar-aged dogs.
We have been working with Lyra since mid-January to clear up some GI issues.
After many tests and medications, she was initially diagnosed with SIBO (Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth), and went through appropriate treatments including various medications and series of B12 injections. After an endoscopy/colonoscopy at North Star Vets in mid June 2014, Lyra has been diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease. We are moving forward with treatment and hope to get her onto a food (other than boiled chicken and potatoes which is currently the only thing she can eat) she can eat, and get her gaining weight and comfortable. IBD cannot be cured, but can be successfully managed. Lyra just needs a committed adopter to do so.
Socially and behaviorally, Lyra is about as typical as any 1 year old beagle, although she is actually probably a bit calmer than most! She will find shoes and other fun things to chew on if you are not paying attention! Her adopter will need to monitor and work the IBD, which again, will be lifelong. Lyra is just about the sweetest, most affectionate beagle you will ever meet and deserves a special family to care for her!
