My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FLYER is a 2 year old neutered black male who weighs 87 pounds. Flyer is a gorgeous, friendly and strong boy who is looking to be an active participant in the game of life. His adopter MUST be active and committed to exercising this boy and giving him lots of stimulation. Flyer will return the favor with love and happiness. He's approved for kids aged 10+.

Update (4/30): Flyer is such a sweet labbie. He is very much full of energy but listens well and is very treat-motivated. He is working on learning some commands and seems very excited to explore every nook and cranny around his foster home. He's a big guy who could do with a few extra lbs, but he has a lovely coat. He loves to play and would make a great dog with an active family.

Update (4/22): Flyer is such a sweet, funny gentleman. He's got bundles of energy to burn, but he settles surprisingly well, especially if there's something tasty to chew on around. He needs an experienced handler or someone who will be firm with him when he feels like doing his own thing (like counter-surfing). Otherwise, he's a total hunk of a guy who just wants some sweet loving. He adores belly rubs and tries to do some lab leaning when his fosters are sitting down, but he stands taller than their laps, so his leans turn into some awkward dance moves of cat-like nuzzling. He's a maniac on a regular leash but walks like a dream as soon as you put him on an Easy Walk harness. It's also quite obvious he's had training in the past, and he knows sit, down, and maybe even roll over. He saw the foster's cats and pretty much ignored them, but they ran away so he hasn't really been cat-tested. Flyer's a pretty cool dude just waiting for his forever home!

From LR evaluator: I had the opportunity to meet the famed "Flyer" today. He is rambunctious, happy, gregarious, and a gentleman. I tested him with another dog, his tail wagged continuously. The other dog became dominant and lightly vocal, Flyer continued wagging his tail. He knows sit and down BUT he is a strong guy (kinda the tall dark handsome type!) Kennel staff said he will break out of the inside kennel to get to the outside run; most likely from lack of daily exercise and engagement. This is a nice dog who is young and has high energy and would be best suited in a home with an ACTIVE family and NOT left at home all day alone. He needs a strong person to harness (and join!) his exuberant outlook on life. I would perhaps recommend another dog for him to live with for company or a stay at home family. Overall, he's fantastic.

From LR transporter: What a big strong wonderful dog. He slept all the way here curled up in the front seat. While at the shelter, he got excited over a cat, so no cats in Flyer's new home, please! He is strong and pulled me down (I was not expecting his cat-reaction!) but he apologized afterwards. :) He is SO gorgeous and seems to have an awesome personality. With lots of love and training, he will be GREAT!
