My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Canela (Cinnamon) is a beautiful reddish Golden Retriever mix. She is very sweet and gentle but a bit confused at this point. Her owner, an elderly man who really didn't treat her well but whom she would given her life for, has died. His family has put her on the street and a kind neighbor (shown in the photo) is trying to keep her alive by feeding her and giving her water and keeping her safe from 'Ecologia' which is the Mexican version of Animal Control. This poor Mexican woman has 13 dogs of her own and brought Canela into her house but her dogs attacked and Canela was afraid to come back in. So, she sleeps outside the old man's house and the kind Mexican woman feeds her daily. But, this is no life for this sweet creature. You can see the sadness and confusion in her body language. She should be happy, tail erect and wagging and eyes bright. We will find a foster home for her but you can provide her the forever home she needs and deserves. We estimate Canela to be about 3-4 years old. She is very submissive to other dogs and therefore needs to be an only dog or with one who will not 'bully' her. UPDATE - Canela is in a foster home. The last photo is of her in a house where she will get the love and attention she deserves until she is adopted. She gets along with all other dogs and is a typical Golden Retriever - she just wants to be with her people!
