My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Update 2/28/16: Below the line is Ellie's (renamed from Nellie) original story. She ended up finding a fantastic permanent home where she is loved. Unfortunately, her human dad is on life support and her human mom may have to go back to the UK due to a VISA issue. Nellie needs a home again. She's a great girl. She even has her own blog, http://elliesrescuerecipe.blogspot.com/. Please contact us if you want to meet her.

Nellie found herself at Orlando animal control labeled as a stray. No matter what had happened to her, she was slated to be killed to no fault of her own. Thankfully, we were able to put a hold on her before her time was up. She's now being boarded at our vet's office waiting for a foster home.

She was extremely scared when we first met her but she's opening up each day. She's not at all aggressive. We pick up and touch her with no incident. So sad to know what made her so nervous of people. We think we've even saw her tail wag!

Our vet examined her and took a good look at her front leg. She limps a bit. An x-ray showed no fracture. She's now on Rimadyl to see if that will help. There's already improvement since we picked her up.

On her walks, she's met several children and loves them!

We're looking for a nice quiet foster home. She's so easy. Just wants to lie down. Please contact us if you can help.

A special prayer goes out tonight to the hundreds of thousands of innocent animals like Nellie who who didn't make it out of our nation's shelters alive today. So many are killed because there just aren't enough homes. Remember, there's always a way to adopt a pet rather than support individuals who keep bringing more animals into this world for a simple buck. Please don't buy when others die. There's always a way. ALWAYS.

All food, medications and any transports (to the vet or elsewhere) are taken care of by Animal Matters. We are a 501c(3) organization and will be promoting her for adoption while she is in foster care. Please contact us if you can help. Thank you.
