Elmo (is a girl)'s Story...
Elmo is a sweet girl who was named by her owner's grandson. She is 5 years old and has only known one home so you can imagine how sad she is in the shelter. Elmo is here with her two "brothers" Dobie and Ozzie. Elmo is an indoor dog, she is housetrained and very quiet and well mannered. She adores children too!! Elmo is half Dachshund half Peka-poo. Dog adoption is 130.00 and includes spay/neuter, heartworm testing, age appropriate vaccines including a 3 year rabies, health exam, deworming, and microchipping. Any animal 6 months or older is considered an adult. No animals are vetted until they are adopted as we do not have a vet on staff. Once the animal is adopted we make a vet appointment, and they must go to be vetted before they can go home with an adopter. Call 985.651.7387 for more information regarding adoption.

Act quickly to adopt Elmo (is a girl). Pets at this Shelter may be held for only a short time.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Elmo (is a girl), a Laplace Dachshund/Poodle (Miniature) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund/Poodle (Miniature) for sale in Laplace, or seeking a Dachshund/Poodle (Miniature) dog from a breeder in Laplace.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Laplace already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Laplace breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund/Poodle (Miniature) breeders who help with Dachshund/Poodle (Miniature) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Laplace paves the way for another one to be saved.
