Meet Thelma! She's quiet, laid back, calm, loves a little run and then a little rest in the sun. It doesn't take much to make her happy. She likes to nuzzle, rub up against you and cuddle. Who could ask for more? She is also adorable! She loves squeaky toys and a good game of ball. She likes to engage other dogs to play with her by putting her elbows on the ground and her butt in the air. She likes to roll around in the grass too (in AL). Thelma knows her sit/lay down commands and will happily show you she can listen. Thelma will fit very well into almost any family setting. Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:
Thorough veterinary examination
All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming
Spay/Neuter
All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.
If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)
NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
