Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Gibbs is a young, energetic male who is around 3 years old. He weighs 33 pounds, which looks good on his 15 inch frame. Gibbs somehow ended up in a shelter where HBHR was able get this sweet boy. When pulled from the shelter, Gibbs was full of fleas, heart worm positive and had an open wound on his chest that required sutureing. It was thought that he had been chained up and injured himself when he escaped!
Gibbs flew through his heart worm treatment with no problems at all. He is now free of heart worms, but will need to stay on Heartguard for at least a year before being switched to different type of preventative.
Gibbs is housebroken with the use of a dog door. He has had an occasional accident when the door was closed. Gibbs likes to sleep on a dog bed at night or even the closet occasionally. He chooses not to sleep on the big bed, but will jump up for an early morning snuggle!
Gibbs is all beagle and loves to use his beagle nose. He loves to spend time tracking the back yard and keeping it free of intruders. Gibbs loves to go on walks and gets very excited when the harnesses and leashes come out. Gibbs can be quite vocal when he is on a trail of a cat or other critter, he has a deep bay and is not shy about using it. He would not do well in an apartment. He also loves to go to the doggie park. At the park, he will run until he is tired, and the smell his way around the park. He loves to play and gets along great with the beagles in his foster home. He wrestles and plays with his foster sister Tanya and is respectful of the elderly beagle in the home.
Gibbs loves playtime with his foster parents and will play fetch and actually return a toy to you. When he tires of the game, he will take the toy and go find a quiet place to relax with it. He is not a toy destroyer.
Gibbs was probably not treated very well in his old home. He will sometimes cower if you walk towards him fast, or when he thinks you are upset with him. He will do best in a home that practices positive reinforcement. He is very interested in human food, so he would probably do best in a home with no small children. He would love an active family with dogs he could play with. Gibbs is a very sweet and loving beagle who keeps his foster parents entertained. He would make a great addition to your family, so apply today!
