Sylvester's Story...
Sylvester was part of a litter brought into a high kill shelter. Every puppy in the litter looked very different. Their mother was said to be a smaller black Border Collie mix with a very nice temperament. Sylvester looks very Aussie however and his build, coat and rear dew claws lead us to believe that he is part Aussie/Great Pyr mixed with the Border Collie. He is a good size boy who weighs around 55-60 pounds and is just over a year old. He went through a lot of treatment for severe chemical burns and Demodex mange which resulted in him growing up in rescue. But maturity has helped many of his issues resolve and he is all ready for adoption. He is housebroken, leash trained and a very nice boy. Because he is a herding breed, we recommend no small children under 10 years old.
He is a very striking dog with white socks with black spots...a big furry tail he usually carrries curled over his back and a very cute boundy walk like he is prancing. With a little work he will make a wonderful dog for a family. All the puppies in this litter have outstanding temperaments and adapt well.
Sylvester's adoption fee is $275 to help cover the costs of getting him ready for adoption. Please contact Becca at for more information. To request an application email Dawn at Sylvester will be available to meet his pre-approved adopter at an upcoming Meet and Greet in Hagerstown, MD.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sylvester, a Bluemont Border Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie for sale in Bluemont, or seeking a Border Collie dog from a breeder in Bluemont.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Bluemont already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Bluemont breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie breeders who help with Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Bluemont paves the way for another one to be saved.
