Sarah is a 2-3 year old Papillon/Italian Greyhound/Chihuahua mix who was a long term resident, and shelter favorite, of Animal Friends of the Valley in Wildomar. She is reddish with white markings and she has a very pretty face. Though she weighs only 8 lbs., she has really long legs (Papillon, Italian Greyhound style) so she can run and play and even take little hikes. “Sweet as Pie” as the shelter described her, Sarah loves everyone she meets and is a smart dog who will quickly adapt to almost any home, as long as she is able to hang out with her people and cuddle up on the couch. She is good with instructions and knows her name, so she will come when called, and stay away, upon instruction, if there is an off-limits zone, like when it is dinner time. Sarah finds lots of comfort in her crate, which is where she eats (so her foster sister will not steal from her) and where she sleeps. She has even learned in just a few days to sit for her treats, which she did not do when she first came to my house. Sarah is great with all dogs big or small, male or female, mainly, because she is not afraid of dogs. When I first brought her to the rescue’s main location, she just blended right in with the pack as if she had always been there (she is now living in one of the rescue’s foster homes with one other small female dog in the home). Sarah can be placed in a home with other dogs, or, as the only dog in the home as long as she has plenty of time to spend with her people! She is not a barker per se, but one nice feature is that she will bark to alert you if something is out of the ordinary.
Sarah knows to use the doggy door and does her business outside, with the rare exception of an accident or two at first, which is expected in any new environment. She has not had an accident since her first two days. However, Sarah will get overly excited when her humans return to the home, simply because she falls in love with them so instantly! Her forever humans will need to show a little restraint when leaving the home, and returning, when it comes to indulging that excitement, to make sure she does not have a "different" kind of potty accident. Once she is told with a stern voice to calm down and not given too much attention at first, she will likely not be too worked up.
Sarah loves to cuddle and go on walks. She enjoyed the dog park the one time we took her – she was friendly when strangers approached her and she let them pet her. She is also very good in the car, whether you want her riding with you in the driver's seat, or if you want her to stay put in the back. She is very obedient, as she really wants to please you more than anything. Sarah is just the sweetest girl we have met through fostering for the rescue.
Sarah is spayed, de-wormed, vaccinated including rabies, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in Sarah, please contact Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. The phone number to the rescue is: 626-340-9316. There is no need to phone the rescue until you have first submitted an interest via e-mail.
