My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.

Tila is really a treasure!!!! She lost her happy home due to a change in work hours which required her to be kenneled for far too long. She is a 3 year old 9 pound girl who is a mix of Chinese Crested and Pomeranian. She has the long legs of the Crested and the soft coat of the Pom. The result is an absolutely darling dog who gets along with gentle kids 5 and older and gentle dogs and hasn’t lived with cats. Tila is a happy, bouncy girl who loves her toys and her humans. She has never lived with another dog but would probably be fine with a gentle male dog in her size range though she is used to being an only pet. Tila requires grooming every two months or her hair will form matts. Even though she looks like she is hypoallergenic she is not and does have fur and not hair so she isn’t a good fit for someone allergic to dogs. Tila LOVES to run in the fenced yard, and she can bounce over a 4 foot yard if there’s snow in it. A six foot privacy fence will ensure her safety and she won’t be adopted to a family without at least a 4-5 foot fence, 6 foot preferred. Tila is dependably house trained and can be kenneled but she dislikes it immensely (she spent too much time kenneled in her previous home). We are hoping to find a family with someone home much of the time. Tila is with a 501c3 rescue and she came to rescue with nothing up to date and intact. As a result her adoption fee is $350. She had a negative heartworm test and pill, a distemper/parvo shot and a rabies shot, worming, was spayed and she has a HomeAgain microchip.

To ensure that this dog thrives in his new home and that the adoption works out for the dog and your family, these are the requirements for adoption. These criteria are not negotiable. If you do not meet these criteria, please choose another dog that will work out better for your family.

• Homeowners: Required
• Status of adopter: 25+
• Previous dog owning experience: Required
• Age of children: GENTLE children 5 and up
• Another dog in the home: Not required, but 1 small male dog might be okay
• Cat(s) in the home: Untested
• Fenced yard: Minimum of 4-5 foot fenced yard required, 6 foot fence preferred, no electric fences
• Needs someone home much of the time as she has spent too much of her time kenneled.
