My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET JOHNNY WAS -

His name is inspired by the Bob Marley song, and like the singer whose song inspired his name, JOHNNY WAS is a gentle soul with a kind and loveable personality. He speaks when he has something important to say and loves all, wanting only to be loved in return. He enjoys car rides and loves to play and play. An adorable 23 month old, long-haired miniature dachshund, our JOHNNY WAS, like the character in the song and the 2006 Irish movie, came from a very difficult situation and wants to make a fresh start; so if you are looking to share your world with a young, loveable, and inspiring canine companion, you might just be the forever family that JOHNNY WAS is looking for and oh how fortunate you would be.

Our Criteria (aka the Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer no smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember these are rescues, many were surrendered because of these issues.

What you get in return with your rescue:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, all shots, wormer, flea protection, nails trimmed, the works. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, no exceptions as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give him a happy, carefree life? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net - the adoption committee will be in touch with you within 48 hours so please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
