My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LaBELLE is an 8 yr old black spayed female who weighs 71 pounds. The family that adopts Labelle will get a super dog. She has good manners gets along with the resident dog and like to hang out with the foster. She slept through the night and got up when we did. It's like she has lived here forever. She takes her meds with peanut butter on a cracker and isn't bothered when we put in her ear drops. She is good with other dogs, living with another female lab at her fosters with no problems. Knows sit, down and come. She's approved for kids aged 10 and up.

Update (6/02): I don't understand why Belle isn't in her forever home. Surely there is someone that wants a good companion to accompany her on walks, rides and to be by her side when they read or watch TV.

Belle is a very laid back easy dog and is a great foster. She is affectionate but not an in your face dog Belle sight is not great, but it doesn't stop her from doing anything Likes to go for rides the and enjoys the treats from Starbucks when we stop for some coffee. At night when I am watching TV I sit on the floor and she comes over and lays next to me for some petting. If we are busy, she will either lay near us or she will go and lay in her crate in our office.

She is a very quiet dog, rarely barks. She goes to the door when the doorbell rings, but she does not bark even thought our dog Genny does. When I am in the pantry filling her bowl she will give me a hurry up I am hungry bark. She does not beg at the table, lays nearby and watches. She is not a counter surfer, but she is tall and sniffs out the edges.

When we are going for a walk she waits patiently at the door while you put her leash on, until you tell her it is OK to go out. Walks nicely on lead and seems interested in other dogs that we have meet on walks.

She is completely house and crate trained and stands at the door if she needs to go out. She does not get on the furniture and sleeps on a dog bed upstairs with us at night. We crate her when we are both gone for a long time, but otherwise she has free roam of the house. She was underweight when we started fostering her and is gaining weight nicely.

Update (5/11): I have decided that La Belle is a GOD (grand ol dame). Such a love. She allows me to follow her from room to room, sit next to her on the floor and give her belly rubs and even sleep in her room with her She first arrived here right after having a large mass removed. She soaked up lots of attention and has become quite settled into our routine. She greets all who she meets with her quiet interest, young or old, two legged or four. Loves greeting the barista at the Starbucks drive through, and willing allows them to give her a treat. So regal!

Update (4/18): Good with kids from her foster: Wanted to let you know that our three grandkids were here last week, and Belle did great with them. They are aged 2-9. They walked her, fed her, loved on her etc. She enjoyed it all.
